I love lookin’ at you
In the way God intended us
I’m talkin’ ’bout nothin’ on but a smile
And a little bit of sweat from when we made love

And you got me singin’ oooooh
Oh your body makes me go oooooh
I throw up my hands, say thank you to the man
‘Cause just to touch, you is a blessin’ and I’m glad I can

All I can say is hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah pretty baby
You got me religious, got me religious, got me religious
And all I can say is hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah pretty baby
You got me religious, got me religious, got me religious

Ok excuse the overtly sexual first verse from Ne-yo’s “Religious” but this awesome song came on my Spotify today and I had to rewind it about 43 times and it got me thinking. Let’s skip past the sexual first verse…I’m more focused on the bridge and the second verse….see below:

I love bein’ with you
‘Cause you’re easily worth adorin’
Your voice in my ear somethin’ like a choir of angels
Easy like Sunday morning

(chorus)

Oh when I see you in the mornin’
Breakfast in bed
When you smile at me, oh
When you rub my head
All that I can say is, “Thank you Lord”
For bringin’ this one to me, yeah
All that I can say is, “Thank you Lord”
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah
You got me religious, you got me religious, got me religious
Said that all I can say, “Hallelujah, hallelujah”
Got me religious, got me religious
I said, “Thank you Lord, thank you Lord, thank you Lord”

The first thing that came to mind is that to me love is a “Spiritual” experience. I’m not talking about making love, this post isn’t about that; I’m talking about being in love with a person. It should connect on a deep way..truly being head over heels for someone. I think that’s why God created Love. Isn’t there a verse in the good book that simply says, God is love. ??  (for those keeping score, “the good book” is a nickname for The Bible, not 50 Shades of Grey or a Zane novel)

Love to me is a feeling….the best feeling…the only feeling. Now I’m a mushy person by nature…..I’m affectionate, a hopeless romantic under normal circumstances, and a person that believes in the concept of a soul mate and not just settling down out of convenience, or obligation. I know the “relationship” still requires work, even soul mates can drive each other crazy LOL!

Now I’m not dumb either, who you choose to get in a relationship with is a big decision that should concern more than just love. I love you, but we both don’t need to have bad credit, no credit, no resources, no potential and no aspirations. There are a couple people who I dated that should have never took a chance on me when I didn’t have two quarters or two goals…I wasn’t mature with my life’s decision making and ended up temporarily messing up what they had going on too. But I digress..

But Love though…. that feeling inside of you that connects you to a person intrinsically (check the definition.. I used that word 100% correctly) is an amazing thing. To me it’s a God-like spiritual connection. I can only speak on myself. I’m not even sure if I’ve done the falling in love thing correctly yet (if it involves being faithful and monogamous, then unfortunately I have failed)…. but I have loved before and the infatuation portion of that is a natural high that no drug could ever reach. It’s spiritual to me. It truly truly is. My eyes are watering now just thinking about the “good days” I’ve had with a person. There’s nothing like when you and your lady are in tune. I believe I’m gonna do it right someday too.

What you connect love to is on you. For me, I know the best compliment I will ever pay a woman is when I tell her I felt like I became closer to Christ, the day she entered my world.
